Actors, this is what makes you stand out in an audition

Foster a relationship through your senses.

The only way, the portal, the doorway to the here and now is through the senses. The only way you can do that is through the body.

Sensations are these pebbles, different coloured pebbles, 10,000 different shades of different colours. Emotions, you could say, are like big rocks and the sensations are the little pebbles that make up the rocks.

Actors, I want you to be a connoisseur of the senses.

I want you to be able to taste the warmth in your body. I want you to be able to taste the tightness, the expansion, the lightness, the flow. I want you to be able to recognize the more subtle feelings and experiences - the little moments of lightness, humour, satire and the puns and the twists - the complexity of the human experience.

You stand out in an audition if you’re just working inside the paradox and what that means is all your channels of perception need to be wide open.
