Guided Practice: The Artist's Path

As an artist of any kind, really, you are taking the world around you and you are creating with it. You are it and it is you, and you’re having a dialogue with it. And in some way, the more I work with artists, I can really see there’s a kind of psychic quality to where they live, how they create and what they create out of.

As the creation emerges from an ability to be with what is and respond and in many ways, out of their imagination, embodied through their felt experience, the inside emerges and is as much a surprise to the artist or the actor or the painter, the musician as it is to the audience.

There’s something moving through simultaneously the artist and the audience. Even if they know their words, it’s still always fresh and new.
